Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu stated that the Türksat 5B satellite has completed its critical stages and started its journey and that "It will be placed into its final orbit in June and will start its activities after a 1.5-month test period."

Karaismailoğlu, with the participation of Vice President Fuat Oktay, watched the launch of Türksat 5B into space from Cape Canaveral Space Launch Complex in Florida, USA, at the ceremony held at Türksat's Gölbaşı Campus.

Karaismailoğlu said "Türksat 5B embarked on a 164-day journey. With Türksat 5B, we will reach all regions that we cannot reach by sea, air and land."

Noting that they worked together with ASELSAN, TUSAŞ and TÜBİTAK UZAY in the construction of Türksat 6A, Karaismailoğlu emphasized the importance of human resources.

"The coverage area will continue to increase with Türksat 6A"

Expressing that they have a satellite capacity that provide services to more than one third of the world in terms of coverage area, Karaismailoğlu stated that Türksat 5A serves more than 30 percent of the world in television broadcasting, while Türksat 5B with an emphasis on data communication will serve regions such as the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, North and South Africa, and Nigeria. The coverage area will continue to increase with the introduction of Türksat 6A.

Expressing that there are two domestic and national components in Türksat 5B, Karaismailoğlu said “For the first time a satellite with domestic and national components will operate in space, but our main goal is the development of the completely domestic and national satellite Türksat 6A. We want to use 5G with completely domestic and national infrastructure. We are planning 6G after it. The interest of young people is very valuable for us, especially to become a country that produces, develops and exports technology."
