Jointly organized by Ankara Development Agency, Ankara Provincial Directorate of National Education and Türksat, the competition titled “Student Entrepreneurs Design Smart Devices” was held on 14 April 2017 at Türksat Gölbaşı Campus.

At the end of 2016, 150 middle school students that completed face-to-face training, further developed their robotics coding and three-dimensional design skills through distance learning in the form of three-person teams. Students competed with their “intelligent intersection” designs at Türksat’s campus.

Experienced engineers of Türksat and TÜBİTAK evaluated the designs prepared during the competition, schools which made rank were determined. The evaluation team, which consisted of Kemal Sarı and Abdullah Göksu from Türksat, scored the designs under various titles. Three schools ranked first and two schools  ranked second and third.

In the competition, Baldudak Middle School, Naşide Halil Gelendost Middle School and Yunus Emre İmam Hatip Middle School placed first; Cenk Yakın Middle School and Sedat Celasun Middle School placed second; Cemil Yıldırım Middle School and Yasemin Karakaya Science and Art Center placed third.

After the competition where Türksat CEO Cenk Şen and Ankara Development Agency General Secretary Arif Şayık presented awards, students visited the Lagari Hasan Çelebi Satellite Museum. Students were given information about the events that took place at Türksat during the treacherous coup attempt on 15 July.
