The first General Assembly Meeting of Intelligent Transportation Systems Association (AUSDER) was held at The Ankara Hotel.

At the association’s general assembly, which Türksat is a member of, attendance was made by Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communication, Deputy Minister Yüksel Coşkunyürek and Deputy Undersecretary Galip Zerey along with Türksat Vice-President Halil Yeşilçimen and AUSDER President Erol Yanar.

Deputy Minister of Transport, Maritime and Communication, Coşkunyürek said that AUSDER will have important duties to carry out professional level operations in intelligent transportation. Coşkunyürek, who stated that with operations carried out in the last 14 years they tried to make transportation more intelligent, which in return made life easier. He said, “In the future intelligent transportation systems will be the indicator of countries development. For this reason, whoever wants to be a leader and have a say in its region, it is important for Turkey to further develop itself in regards to this.”
 
“IT is an important part of intelligent transportation”
 
Galip Zerey, Deputy Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications, said that the studies on intelligent transport systems are moving forward at full speed, but are considered to be at the beginning stages. Noting the importance of IT in intelligent transportation, Zerey said that with the rapid expansions of systems across the world, in traffic both time and fuel saving has started to take place.
 
AUSDER President, Erol Yanar stated that quality information is important in intelligent transportation systems and that since 1970's the studies related to the topic have been made, but the information was not as a whole nor was it supportive of each other.
 
At the end of the program a plaque was presented to the members of the association.
