Organized by ALTAIR and attended by space professionals from 18 different countries and supported by TÜRKSAT as a strategic partner, the International Space Convention 2022 (International Space Congress) was held at GUHEM (Gökmen Space and Aviation Training Center) in Bursa on September 9-10-11.
At the TÜRKSAT stand established within the scope of the congress, information was given to domestic and foreign participants on the general activities of our company, consultancy activities and satellite services.
On the first day of the congress, Satellite Programs Director M. Mehmet Nefes presented the study titled "New Generation Communication Satellite Projects of Turkey: TURKSAT-5A/5B and TURKSAT-6A Programs". Within the scope of the presentation, Director M. Mehmet Nefes gave information about the current fields of activity of TÜRKSAT, TÜRKSAT 5A and 5B satellite technologies, the innovations of the 5th generation satellites and the achievements which are accomplished with the new generation satellites, stated that the equipment developed with domestic and national contributions gained space heritage and emphasized the importance of our increasing the capabilities in space.
Talking about the current studies on the TÜRKSAT 6A communication satellite project, M. Mehmet Nefes also touched upon the importance of model philosophy in satellite production in the space industry in our country.
In the panel titled "Innovation and Commercialization in Space" held on the same day, M. Mehmet Nefes discussed innovations and traditional methods in terms of commercialization in satellite and space equipment production, and talked about the ideas on importance of qualification processes for equipments suitable for the space environment.
On the second day of the congress, in the panel titled "Space Junk: Creating a Sustainable Space Ecosystem" attended by Satellite Programs Directorate Arif Armağan Gözütok, views on the future of space garbage were discussed.
On the last day of the congress, in the panel titled "Driving Caucasus Space Growth for Global Benefit" attended by Satellite Programs Directorate Koray Bayraktar, how to improve the development of the space industry in the Caucasus region was discussed. In addition, M. Mehmet Nefes and Koray Bayraktar participated in the podcast broadcast on TÜRKSAT 5A, TÜRKSAT 5B, TÜRKSAT 6A communication satellites and the course of satellite and space technologies.
On the last day of the event, M. Mehmet Nefes presented gifts on behalf of TÜRKSAT to GUHEM General Manager Halit Mirahmetoğlu.
