Türksat CEO Ahmet Hamdi Atalay stated that the world is moving toward an era where systems smarter than humans will be developed and emphasized that Türksat aims to become one of the pioneers of this transformation by making a significant breakthrough in the aviation sector. Noting that until now, in-flight internet services have been provided through foreign service providers, Atalay said, “We now aim to provide this service via Türksat’s infrastructure. We are currently working on providing internet service on flights first with AJet, and later with Turkish Airlines, through our own providers.”

Türksat CEO Ahmet Hamdi Atalay delivered these remarks during the “Sustainable Transportation Summit in the Century of Türkiye” organized by Turkuvaz Media. He emphasized that although Türksat is a company built upon satellite technologies, its activities span a much broader area, including Cable TV, internet services, IT systems, e-Government, and digital transformation. Atalay stated that Türksat currently operates five active satellites in orbit and announced that Türksat 6A, which was launched into space in July, would be commissioned within a month. He noted that with three satellites launched in the last two years, Türkiye is now among a limited number of countries in the world in this field. He proudly stated that the sixth satellite was produced entirely with domestic and national capabilities.

A New Era in Aviation

Atalay announced that a significant innovation would be implemented in the aviation sector. He reiterated that, up to now, the internet services offered on aircraft were provided through foreign providers and emphasized that this service would now be delivered using Türksat’s infrastructure. Atalay said, “We are working to provide internet service to passengers on AJet flights initially and later on Turkish Airlines flights through our own providers. We aim to begin test operations on AJet very soon. In the following phase, we plan to offer internet service on Turkish Airlines flights as well.”

Digital Transformation with e-Government

Atalay highlighted that Türkiye is among the most advanced countries in the world in e-Government services, stating that the platform currently serves 66.5 million users. He shared that over 1,000 public institutions and more than 500 municipalities provide services through the e-Government portal, with the most active user group being individuals over 40 years old.

A New Era in Data Management: “TÜRKSAT Cloud”

Emphasizing the rapid increase in data production driven by digitalization, Atalay described this situation as a “data tsunami.” He noted that the amount of data produced throughout human history is now being generated within just 1.5 years. He stressed that storing and processing this data has become critically important. He announced that Türksat has developed a new platform called “TÜRKSAT Cloud” to meet this need. This platform allows institutions to receive services without the need for new infrastructure investments. Atalay underlined that through its steps in innovation and digital transformation, Türksat will become one of the pioneers of change in Türkiye.
