Türkiye’s leading satellite operator, Türksat, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with French satellite operator Eutelsat to ensure uninterrupted in-flight internet services on a global scale. Under the agreement, Türksat will expand its inflight communication services to European airlines using Eutelsat’s Konnect VHTS satellite.
Türksat showcased its domestic and national products at Satellite 2025, one of the world’s leading satellite industry events held in Washington, D.C. During the event, a cooperation agreement was signed between Türksat and Eutelsat regarding inflight internet services. The signing ceremony was attended by Türksat CEO Ahmet Hamdi Atalay and Eutelsat CEO Eva Berneke, as well as Turkish Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Dr. Ömer Fatih Sayan and Türksat Deputy General Manager of Satellite Services Dr. Selman Demirel.
As part of the agreement, Türksat will utilize the multi-beam capacity of Eutelsat’s Konnect VHTS satellite in Europe to expand its service area. The combination of Türksat 5B’s Ka-band coverage and Konnect VHTS’s European coverage will enable more effective provision of inflight internet services across a vast geography.
“We Are Strengthening Our Capacity for the Aviation Sector”
Türksat CEO Ahmet Hamdi Atalay stated that the agreement will expand the high-speed inflight internet (IFC – In-Flight Connectivity) services offered through Türksat satellites, and added, “This way, we are further strengthening the capacity we offer to the aviation sector. This agreement will allow us to provide more reliable and uninterrupted internet services to our aviation customers in Europe. At the same time, we believe it will open the door to new opportunities that will position Türksat as one of the leading service providers in the IFC market.”
Eutelsat CEO Eva Berneke also expressed her pleasure that Türksat chose Eutelsat for this collaboration, “Konnect VHTS is one of the most advanced satellites in our GEO (Geostationary Earth Orbit) satellite fleet. It was specifically designed to serve the inflight connectivity market in Europe. We are excited to bring this important partnership with Türksat to life.”
